The
Nigel Williams
Award

The Foundation's's Experience and Objective

Each year the Toronto District School Board alone receives upwards of 14 applications from principals of elementary and high schools in the GTA for the Award .

Upon reading these submissions, it became clear that there are many graduating students in grade 8 and grade 12 that truly deserve to receive recognition upon graduation.

These kids experience deep emotional pain; they have the mental capability to comprehend what life has to offer; yet do not have the physical capability to participate in all its potential. Just kicking or tossing a ball around is often beyond them, yet they rise up with a brave heart to meet the challenges, cheerful and stalwart.

Recognizing their achievement at graduation with their teachers and peers is a tremendous boost to their spirit; their will to carry on is strengthened.

The Nigel william Robert Gage Foundation objective is to establish the award throughout Ontario, annually recognize all deserving children graduating from grade 8 and grade 12. Recognition will not be a competition. At the graduation ceremony, each child will receive a beautiful glass "Nigel Williams Award for Personal Strength and Courage" trophy with the year and their name on it. An angel engraved in the glass reflects light when placed in a window.
